Former Kolkata commissioner Rajeev Kumar who is believed to be a favourite of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is said to be untraceable after being summoned by the CBI on Friday (13 September) in connection with the Saradha scam.

As per a report by India Today, CBI has sent another summon to Kumar, asking him to appear before the agency at 2 PM today (16 September). He was earlier instructed by the agency to appear before it on Saturday (14 September).

The current location of Kumar is not known and he is said to have gone under the radar after the Kolkata High Court rejected his interim protection plea. He has written to the CBI asking it to provide him more time over personal reasons.

The CBI has now written to West Bengal’s home secretary, chief secretary and DGP asking them to reveal Kumar’s location. The premier investigating agency has sought Kumar’s custody after expressing fears over him tampering evidence.

Famously in February Mamata had sat on a dharna and detained a CBI team after it reached Kumar’s residence to question him over the Saradha scam.
