According to data collected by the Broadcast Audience Research Council, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appearance on Discovery Channel’s popular survival show, Man vs Wild, has massively boosted the channel’s viewership numbers, reports Mint.
On the date of the premiere, 12 August, Discovery Channel managed to gain the third spot within the 9-10 pm viewing slot, receiving 3.05 million impressions. The top position was held by Star Plus with 3.67 million impressions followed by Zee TV with 3.3 million.
Impressions measure the quantity of target households, in thousands, who watched an event, with the number being averaged across minutes.
According to the Discovery network itself, the episode which follows Bear Grylls taking Modi along a survival trip across parts of Jim Corbett National Park, boosted its number of tune-ins on Discovery channel to 6.1 million, a fifteen fold jump from its previous four weeks’ average in the same time slot.
