‘Maragatha Lingam’ Missing From Temple In Tamil Nadu’s Tiruvannamalai Since 2017 Recovered After Being Found By Janitor

A 'Magratha Lingam' a precious lingam made out of emerald which was missing from a hill temple since 2017 belonging to the Vettavalam Jamin in Tiruvannamala, Tamil Nadu was found on the temple premises on Wednesday (15 May), reports Deccan Chronicle.
In a surprising turn of events, the Lingam was found lying around in the campus by a janitor while he was burning garbage at about six in the evening . The worker then immediately contacted the authorities, who took over the matter.
After the Maragatha Lingam had gone missing in 2017, an incident of theft of some gold and silver jewellery also emerged from the Jamin temple. The case of the Lingam was being investigated by two special police team.
The news of the Lingam's reappearance led to a kind of joyous atmosphere, with locals hoping that the Lingam woud be re-installed at the soonest.
A team from the state idol wing police, headed by ADSP, Madhavan, and DSP, Ramesh and Vettavalam police station inspector Nagraj had come to visit the spot; they took the 'Maragatha Lingam' into safe custody.
