Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has vacated her government bungalow located on the Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg, Times of India has reported.

However, the house that she has vacated is not the one she was served notice for.

The Uttar Pradesh government had sent her a notice after Supreme Court’s order, asking her to vacate the house located on the Mall Avenue.

Mayawati continues to use the house and has put up a hoarding outside declaring it a memorial dedicated to Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) founder Kashi Ram to dodge the government orders. The party claimed that Mayawati occupied just two rooms of the bungalow now renamed ‘Kanshi Ram Ji Yadgar Vishram Sthal’.

The BSP has said that the leader is willing to give up the house on the Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg if the government serves a notice for the same.

Narayan Dutt Tiwari, Mulayam Singh Yadav, Kalyan Singh, Rajnath Singh and Akhilesh Yadav are others asked to shift out. As per a report by Hindi daily Dainik Jagran, Tiwari is also using a tactic similar to Mayawati and has put up a hoarding outside his house declaring it as a trust. Recently, Tiwari's wife Ujjwala pleaded for more time, saying her husband was in the "last stages" of his life.

Similarly, Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and his son Akhilesh Yadav too wrote to the Estate Department pleading for two more years. However, as per reports, they have begun to vacate the bungalows.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has vacated the house allotted to him.
