Dr S Jaishankar - left, Rahul Gandhi - right
In a series of tweets today evening (17 July) External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar gave a point by point rebuttal to allegations made by Rahul Gandhi over India's foreign policy as part of his new video series.
Gandhi in the video released today had alleged that India was faltering over the foreign policy front with deteriorating relations with its neighbours.
"Since 2014, the PM's constant blunders and indiscretions have fundamentally weakened India and left us vulnerable", Gandhi had said while sharing the video.
In a direct response to Rahul Gandhi, Dr Jaishankar asserted that India's major partnerships are stronger and international standing is higher. He added that India now engages with China on more equal terms and is known for openly speaking its mind on issues like China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Belt Road Initiative (BRI) and UN sanctioned terrorists.
Over Gandhi's allegation of Sri Lanka giving a port to China, Dr Jaishankar reminded him that the Hambantota Port agreement was concluded in 2008 and he should ask those who were in charge then.
Dr Jaishankar also gave an account of India's improving relations with its neighbours.
Dr Jaishankar then goes on to conclude by reminding Gandhi that Pakistan is now aware of the difference between India's military actions in Balakot and the Surgical Strikes and the diplomacy carried out by the UPA.
