Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has prioritised giving a boost to the Noida electronic city to Sahibabad line under phase-3. The body has also come up with a sharing pattern for the funds, and will be getting the proposal vetted by the UP government within a week’s time, reported The Indian Express.

An official from GDA was quoted saying that the decision comes after the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) suggested that this line will bring connectivity from Ghaziabad to Delhi, Noida and Faridabad. The line is 5.11 km long.

It covers about five stations- Vaibhav Khand, Indirapuram, Shakti Khand, Vasundhara Sector 5 and Sahibabad. The project cost is estimated to be around Rs 1,886 crore.

Chief Engineer of GDA VN Singh said that the funding is going to be shared by the state government (UP), Centre and other bodies such as GDA, UP State Industrial Development Corporation, Housing Board of UP, Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation.

As per the pattern of funding, the Centre and UP government will shell out Rs 334.6 crore each, GDA will invest about Rs 571.90 crore, UP Housing Board a sum of Rs 365.04 crore has been offered, and the GMC will be giving Rs 206.86 crore. Lastly, the UPSIDC is offering Rs 73 crore.

Since three out of five stations fall under Indirapuram, GDA will have to spend the maximum cost. Since UP Housing Board, UPSIDC and GMC has one station each, the costs are comparatively lesser.
