Modi-Trump Talks: India-US Agree To Open Negotiations On Big Trade Deal, Finalise Defence Deals Worth $3 Billion

Prime Minister Narendra Modi following his talks with US President Donald Trump in Delhi’s Hyderabad House announced that both the countries have agreed negotiations for a big trade deal.
As per reports, Prime Minister Modi during the joint address said that commerce ministers of both countries held positive talks on a trade deal and agreed to give a legal shape to the same. The negotiations are expected to begin in the future.
He added that every important aspect of the India-US partnership was discussed today encompassing defence and security, energy strategic partnership, trade and people to people ties.
Trump added that both India and the US affirmed their commitment towards protecting citizens from Radical Islamic Terrorism. He claimed that the US is already working with Pakistan to act on terrorists operating from its soil.
During the talks it was also decided to revitalise the “Quad Initiative with Australia and Japan for a free and open Indo-Pacific”. 5G technology was also on the agenda and Trump stressed on the need to make it a “tool for freedom, progress, prosperity and not a means to encourage suppression and censorship”.
