Prime Minister Narendra Modi has received a massive thumbs up in an online poll, with more than 83 per cent of over 2 lakh respondents saying that a Modi-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government is the most likely outcome after the 2019 general elections for Lok Sabha.

Furthermore, the poll, conducted by Times of India from 11 to 20 February, also shows that the popularity of Prime Minister remains high with 84 per cent of respondents saying that they would prefer Narendra Modi as Prime Ministerial candidate should Lok Sabha polls are “held today”.

According to the poll, Congress President Rahul Gandhi, with just 8.33 per cent people voting for him, is a distant second in the most preferred choice for Prime Minister among online voters. He is followed by Trinamool Congress’ Mamata Banerjee with 1.44 per cent and Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati with 0.43 per cent votes.

On the question of Rahul Gandhi being more popular today compared to 2014, 63 per cent of people responded in negative while 31 per cent felt the opposite.

On the Rafale issue, the poll indicates that nearly two-thirds (74.6 per cent) of the respondents feel that it won’t impact the NDA negatively in the Lok Sabha polls while only 17.5 per cent say that it will.
