Political strategist Prashant Kishor is all set to take a political plunge today by joining Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) today.

Kishor, who is credited with delivering election victories for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in the past, had revealed at an interaction with students of the Indian School of Business in Hyderabad last week that he was "done with campaigning for individuals”. He had on announced his retirement from election campaigning for political parties.

"[For] two years, I have been wanting to get out of this domain. It could have been post the Uttar Pradesh poll results, but the failure put the decision on hold. In 2019, you will not see PK campaigning for any party or individual," he had said.

About his future plans, he had said, "I will do something that connects me to the grassroots. I am going to either Gujarat or Bihar."

Earlier today, Kishor said he was “excited” to start his “new journey from Bihar”.

Known as Kumar’s Chanakya, Kishor started his career in 2012 and gained prominence after crafting Modi’s campaign for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. He has worked for BJP’s rival Mahagathbandhan in Bihar and for the Congress. Kishor is credited with scripting the massive victory of JD(U)-Rashtriya Janata Dal-Congress combine in 2015. He had, however, failed to drive the Samajwadi Party-Congress alliance to victory in the 2017 assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh.
