Mohanlal Welcome To Contest From Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala BJP Chief

BJP Kerala State President, P S Sreedharan Pillai has officially invited Malayalam superstar Mohanlal to join the party and contest the elections, reports Mathrubhumi.
However, the party has not held any discussions with Mohanlal to this effect, said Pillai. The party is glad to welcome Mohanlal if he is ready to join the BJP, he added.
As elections are approaching, the BJP in Kerala is looking for winnable candidates and with the entry of such popular figures, it would certainly boost the morale of the party cadre, he told Mathrubhumi.
Mohanlal however has denied claims that he was joining the Bharatiya Janata Party and contesting the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Thiruvananthapuram segment. It had earlier been reported that the RSS was pushing for Mohanlal’s entry into the party.
The actor earlier met PM Modi on Monday (3 September) further fuelling talk that he is bound to join the BJP soon.
Kerala is scheduled to go for polls in 2021 and the RSS is on the lookout for leaders who can help the party develop into a serious contender for power in the state.
