Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train: Tata, L&T Among Companies Bidding To Build Bridges, Station On High Speed Rail Route

National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHRCL), the implementing agency for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project, on Thursday (25 September) opened the technical bids for twenty eight steel bridges and 88 km of viaduct between Vadodara and Ahmedabad for the high-speed train project.

The NHSRCL opened technical bids for two packages for the bullet train project between Mumbai and Ahmedabad on Thursday.

One of the tender packages involves procurement and fabrication of 28 steel bridges for crossings over railway lines, rivers, highways, roads and other structures, the Ministry of Railways said in a statement.

The other package include design and construction of 88 km of viaduct between Vadodara and Ahmedabad in Gujarat including construction of elevated HSR station at Anand/Nadiad, five bridges and 25 crossings.

Eight bidders -- Tata Projects Ltd; Afcons Infrastructure Ltd; Braithwaite & Co Ltd consortium; Bridge & Roof Co (India) Ltd; NCC Ltd; JMC Projects (India) Ltd & Rahee Infratech Ltd; ISGEC Heavy Engineering Ltd-M & B Engineering Ltd consortium; Larsen & Toubro-IHI Infrastructure Systems consortium -- participated in the bid for the procurement and fabrication of 28 steel bridges, the statement said.

The Larsen & Toubro- IHI infrastructure is an Indo-Japanese consortium while all other firms participating in the bid for 28 steel bridges are Indian companies, the ministry said.

Meanwhile, three bidders -- Afcons Infrastructure Limited–IRCON International Limited–JMC Projects India Ltd consortium; NCC Limited–Tata Project Ltd-J Kumar Infra Projects Ltd-HSR consortium; Larsen & Toubro Ltd -- participated in the bid for design and construction of 88 Km viaduct and Anand/Nadiad station, it added.
