Vakrangee Ltd has decided to set-up the electric vehicle charging infrastructure facilities across all its Nextgen Kendra retail outlets, reports Business Standard.

Based in Mumbai, Vakrangee Limited is a technology company that provides banking, insurance, e-governance, e-commerce, and logistics services. The company is one of the main providers of the software and equipment for voter id cards and Aadhaar cards and also operates e-governance projects of Government of India.

As of now, Vakrangee has 3,504 units across 19 states and 366 districts. What is noteworthy is that more than 68 per cent of its outlets are in tier 5 and tier 6 cities.

Leveraging its already existing facilities, the company is planning to have at least 75,000 outlets by FY2021-22 and 3,00,000 outlets by FY2024-25.

"We believe that the electric vehicle space is a huge growth opportunity for the coming years and we want to be future-ready by developing a Pan India footprint of EV charging infrastructure. We would be an enabler by providing the distribution platform for the EV charging facility through our partnership with the EV service providers," said Dinesh Nandwana, Executive Chairman of the group.

Incorporated in 1990, Vakrangee is focused on building India's largest network of last-mile retail outlets to deliver real-time banking & financial Services, ATM, insurance, e-governance, e-commerce and logistics services with a primary focus on mofussil areas.

Envisaging on electrifying 25 per cent of the nation's traffic, the government wants to set up electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across the country with at least one charging station every 25 km on each side of the highway.
