The Mumbai Police has registered a First Information Report (FIR) for abetment to suicide against two sisters of Sushant Singh Rajput (SSR) Priyanka Singh and Meetu Singh and others, on behest of Rhea Chakraborty, Rajput’s girlfriend of few months at the time of his death.

"Rhea Chakraborty has set the criminal law in motion by filing her complaint with Bandra police station. The cocktail of illegally administered medicines and drugs may have lead to SSR's suicide on 14 June 2020. His sisters need to be answerable to the investigators and God," Ms Chakraborty's lawyer Satish Maneshinde was quoted as saying by NDTV.

Chakraborty said that the sisters had used a bogus medical prescription to enable SSR have access to the drugs for depression and anxiety which cannot be legally prescribed on WhatsApp.

"(Sushant Singh Rajput) died merely five days after obtaining the prescription in which he was unlawfully prescribed psychotropic substances," Rhea Chakraborty, Mr Rajput's girlfriend, said in her complaint on Monday.

Her complaint alleged that the forged prescription depicted Sushant Singh Rajput as being at a Delhi Out Patient Department when in fact he was in Mumbai.

She also said that she had tried to dissuade the actor from taking medication without prescription from a doctor, but SSR "insisted" on only taking medicines "his sister was prescribing him".

"It is imperative that the actions of Priyanka Singh, Dr Tarun Kumar and others be investigated and that it be determined as to how they came to provide the deceased with such a bogus and unlawful prescription," she said.

Reportedly, the case has been transferred to the CBI for further investigation in accordance with orders of the Supreme Court.

Varun Singh, the sisters' lawyer, said that Bandra Police Station seemed to be Rhea Chakrobarty's second home as she runs to the police station over all kinds of petty issues. He added that they will approach the court seeking quashing of the FIR against them.
