Mumbai Police To Drop Charges Against Activist Who Held 'Free Kashmir' Poster During Anti-CAA Protest

In January, a Mumbai-based writer Mehak Mirza Prabhu had created furors by holding a ‘Free Kashmir’ placard at the Gateway of India in Mumbai during the thick of anti-CAA protests.
Now, Mumbai police has decided to drop charges against her by filing a ‘C Summary’ report in the case over displaying the separatist slogan on a banner, Mumbai Mirror reports.
Mumbai Police has reportedly determined that there was no malicious motive in her actions. ‘C Summary’ report translates into the fact that a registered case is false and that it was filed without any malice, prejudice and possibly due to misunderstanding.
In the news for propagating such a secessionist slogan, Mahek Mirza Prabhu claimed that she appealed for Kashmir to be freed from the ban on internet services following the abrogation of Article 370.
Ashish Shelar, BJP leader and party’s chief whip in the Maharashtra assembly, criticized the Maha Vikas Aghadi government for letting the woman roam scot free post her action. “Mumbai Police will hand over a certificate of innocence to Mehak Prabhu who gave slogans of Azad Kashmir? Does this government belong to the Tukde Tukde gang?” Shelar wrote on Twitter.
