Mumbai: Serial Blast Convict Dr Jalees Ansari Who Executed Over 50 Bomb Blasts, Goes ‘Missing’ While On Parole

Serial blasts convict Dr Jalees Ansari who is serving life imprisonment after plotting and executing over 50 bomb blasts in India from the 1990s, has gone ‘missing’ while visiting his family in Mumbai, during his parole, India Today has reported.

Ansari was scheduled to report back to the Ajmer jail today (17 January) but his family members filed a missing complaint at the Agripada police station on Thursday (16 January).

Ansari is said to have left his house at 5 AM in the morning for Namaz but did not return back. His phone was found switched off. The local police station then issued a SOS alert which was forwarded to the Maharashtra ATS.

The ATS has now launched a manhunt to nab Ansari and the CCTV control room, Mumbai police too has been pressed into action.

Ansari has been convicted in the Jaipur serial blasts, Ajmer blasts and Malegaon blast case and had undergone training in Pakistan back in the 1990s. A doctor by profession he is said to have been radicalised by terrorist Abdul Karim Tunda while he was working for the BMC.

Ansari became an expert in TNT and bombs. He was released on parole following a supreme court order on 28 December. He had in the past led modules within SIMI and Indian Mujahideen.
