Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad slammed the Congress and other opposition parties over their resolution against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), National Population Register (NPR) and the abrogation of Article 370, reports Asian News International (ANI).

Accusing the parties of buttressing the 'urban Maoists' and members of the 'tukde-tukde gang', Prasad asserted that the resolution passed by them must have "gladdened the heart of Pakistan."

Prasad also took a jibe at the supposed opposition unity as the meeting called by Congress party president Sonia Gandhi was not attended by Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress, Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party (SP), and Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Prasad stressed that the NPR was brought in 2010 by the then prime minister (PM) Manmohan Singh and also underscored that Singh had in 2003 pressed that Hindu refugees from Bangladesh and Pakistan should get Indian citizenship.
