The mutilated body of killed Border Security Force (BSF) jawan Narender Singh was found 30 to 40 meters inside Pakistani territory, The Hindu has reported.

According to the daily’s report, the body was located by a team of BSF working with along Pakistan Rangers - the force that monitors the country’s international border with India - in a ten-hour long operation.

“We could not immediately retaliate as our man was still missing. Despite repeated calls to the hotline, they remained incommunicado. Finally the concerned officer came on the line in the evening and we asked them for assurance that a search party will go to look for Singh and there should be no firing from the other side,” a BSF official was quoted by The Hindu as saying.

Pakistani soldiers had killed the jawan and mutilated his body, Hindustan Times had reported. The Pioneer reported that the eyes of BSF jawan, who was identified as head constable Narendra Kumar, were gouged out, neck was partially slit and the whole body had marks of burn injuries, including on chest and arms.

Reports said Pakistani soldiers could have dragged the jawan into their territory to mutilate his body after killing him.
