The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has mooted for a policy fix and has pushed for a comprehensive mobility plan and integrated transport authority, to ensure that the projects fit into the Metro Rail Policy, Deccan Herald has reported.
Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) Managing Director Ajay Seth, said that, the Centre has in-principle agreed to support the project subject to compliance to its metro policy that had come into effect in August last year (2017). But in spite of compliance, the centre has reportedly stipulated several conditions for funding metro projects.
“A city, proposing a Metro project, should have a comprehensive mobility plan, transit-oriented development policy and united metropolitan transport authority,” Seth was quoted saying by DH.
The BMRCL has also been asked to draft an analysis of alternative modes of transport on the Outer Ring Road (ORR). This is to know whether the Metro is the right solution on a particular stretch. “We have taken up the study, and it should be completed in 15 days,” Seth added.

The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
