Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, while lashing out at Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) for branding Sidhu as Pakistani stooge, has termed the opening of Kartarpur corridor as big conspiracy by Pakistani intelligence agency, ISI, The New Indian Express has reported.

According to the report, Amarinder has said that the opening of Kartarpur corridor is clearly a game plan of ISI to revive militancy in Punjab. He said that no matter how grand Pakistani overtures appear, everyone should be wary of them.

He slammed Akalis and Bharatiya Janata Party central leadership for engaging in unnecessary controversy over his relations with Sidhu in a bid to divert attention of the public from the real issue of Pakistan’s deliberate attempts to foment terror activities in order to destabilise Punjab.

Chief Minister said that the Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan is making efforts to make peace with India but he should also reign in the top brass of Pakistan army and tell them to immediately stop killing Indian soldiers at the border. He said, historically, in Pakistan, if any Prime Minister wants to stay in power, he has to toe the line of the Army.

He said that despite his advice to the contrary, Sidhu went to Pakistan for the ground breaking ceremony of Kartarpur corridor due to his friendship with Imran Khan.

Singh said that he had absolutely no problems with Sidhu while running the government. He added that Sidhu always speaks in a forthright manner and his only problem was that “sometimes he shoots before he thinks.”
