On Monday, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) broke down a drug supply racket in Mumbai in which narcotic drugs were infused with baked cakes and brownies and then delivered for rave parties.

The bakery-cum-residence was raided by NCB zonal director Sameer Wankhede in Mazgaon and 10 kilograms of packed hashish brownie cakes were confiscated from the site.

25-year-old Rahmeen Charaniya, a professional psychologist in a South Mumbai hospital, operated this lab and has reportedly been involved in the business of drugs right from his college days.

He told the NCB that he derived this idea of mixing narcotic drugs in cakes and brownies from a popular international OTT series. He used to gather orders from social media platforms and made the supplies himself.

“The accused would provide a variety of cakes which he had named as Rainbow cake -- which was a mixture of hashish, ganja and charas in the dough. Then there were Hashish Brownies and Pot Brownies infused with weed. We have also found 350 grams of Opium and cash worth Rs 1.7 lack at the residence,” Wankhede’s statement was quoted in a report by India Today.

Charaniya had scores of clients from southern and western Mumbai and his supplier, a 40-year-old Ramzan Sheikh, was also arrested by the NCB from Crawford Market during the course of the interrogation.
