Maharashtra.

Maharashtra.

This is turning into a landslide for NDA as trends show an NDA lead in 42 out of 48 seats with UPA being reduced to 5 and Wanchit Bahujan Aghadi (WBA) leading in one. Devendra Fadnavis and Uddhav Thackeray took, perhaps, the toughest challenge posted by UPA and turned a largely two-cornered election into a rout. The ghosts of agitations by farmers and Maratha community among others seems to have been laid to rest as voters have responded the appeal to strengthen Modi's hands .

Parth Pawar is now trailing by over 54,000 votes behind sitting MP Shrirang Baner of Shiv Sena in Maval.

Caution: a few seats, especially in Vidarbha, are separated by very thin margins; at the time of writing, Union Minister Hansraj Ahir was leading just by 200 votes in Chandrapur. So these results are not yet set in stone. NDA supporters may wish to hold off celebrations a little longer.
