Activists from Karnataka Rakshana Vedike Yuva Sene (KRVYS) have booked 235 tickets for a show that will be held at a private hotel in Bengaluru’s Manyata Tech Park on the 3 November, Deccan Herald has reported. Sunny Leone is set to perform at the event. The members of KRVYS plan to protest during the event.

The KRVYS has raised objections to the actress’ role in the movie ‘Veeramahadevi’. State President of KRVYS Harish was quoted by Deccan Herald as saying, “We just can not accept her donning the role of the greatest Kannada queen owing to her past experience of starring in blue films. As long as she continues in the movie we will protest against her. The protests will not be confined to Bengaluru alone but to other parts of Karnataka and neighbouring Tamil Nadu as well.”

Harish adds that they ‘love’ to see her perform Kannada songs, hence they have booked the tickets. Some among the group even slit their wrists as a sign of protest. They are appealing to the government to impose a ban on the movie across the state for portraying South India’s greatest kings from the Chola and Rashtrakuta empires as slaves.

The ‘parent’ organisation, Karnataka Rakshana Vedike has maintained a distance from the issue, saying that they do not endorse such form of protests and accused the youth wing of using their name to stage protests. The president of KRVYS has responded to the comment by pointing out that they are legally registered and have been fighting independently from the beginning.
