Under the provisions of Companies Act 2013, Hephsiba Rani Korlapati, IAS, has been appointed as the Managing Director for the Hubballi-Dharwad Smart City Limited (HDSCL), The New Indian Express has reported.
HDSCL has the status of a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV).
Hubballi-Dharwad has found its place in the list of 100 smart cities to be developed in the near future. A joint investment of Rs 500 crore each on behalf of the state and the Centre will be put in without any further delay. Until the date of appointment, the municipal corporation had to bear the burden.
HDSCL special officer S H Naregal said, “A total of 52 works are being taken up. Of them, 48 projects are smart city-funded while four others will be implemented through a public-private partnership.”
Detailed Project Reports (DPR) worth Rs 552 crore for over 24 projects is impending approval. On the other hand, 24 projects worth Rs 374 crore has been approved and nearly 15 tenders have been floated for projects estimated at Rs 311 crore. Three projects that are estimated to cost Rs 253 crore has received work orders.
