NHAI To Buy Back 20 Road Projects From Private Players For Rs 8,200 Crore

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will buy back key highway projects from private players in order to expand their capacity to meet increased traffic demands and develop some of them as economic corridors under the Bharatmala programme.

The buyback involves 20 National Highway and 19 state highway projects totally running to 3,160 kilometres. While the total cost of the 20 NH projects is estimated at least Rs 8,200 crore, cost of the state highways is yet to be worked out.


Out of the the 19 identified state highways, a maximum of eight fall in Rajasthan followed by four each in Punjab and Madhya Pradesh.
