'No Political Violence In West Bengal,' Says Mamata Banerjee, Terms It BJP’s Gimmick

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday (17 June) targeted the central government and claimed that there is "no political violence" anywhere in Bengal and that it is all "BJP's gimmick."

"There is no political violence in West Bengal. We condemn violence. Political violence is a BJP gimmick. They should have gone to Uttar Pradesh where the dead bodies are floating," Mamata Banerjee said as per ANI.

Mamata Banerjee also alleged that the central government is trying to bulldoze Twitter as they cannot control it. Similarly, she said the centre cannot control her government and thus being meted out the same treatment.

"I condemn it; they can't control Twitter, so they are trying to bulldoze it. They (Centre) are trying to do so with everyone they are unable to manage. They can't control me, and that is why they are trying to bulldoze my government, too," Banerjee said.

On the other hand, the West Bengal state unit president of BJP Dilip Ghosh on Tuesday (15 June) said that over 30 party workers were killed since the election results were announced a one-and-half month back.

Recently, the women victims of the post-poll violence in Bengal have approached the Supreme Court of India (SC) seeking SIT probe into all violent incidents and the police's inaction.

The victims have cited post-Godhra communal riots in Gujarat and sought a similar court-monitored SIT probe into gang rapes and murders that went on with impunity for over 15 days after TMC's victory.
