No Takers For Congress In Haryana? Senior Leaders Reluctant To Contest Lok Sabha Polls Post Crushing Jind Defeat

The Congress is struggling to find candidates to contest on its tickets for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls from the state of Haryana, Hindustan Times has reported.
As per the report, may senior leaders are reluctant to contest the polls in light of the party’s crushing defeat in the Jind bypoll.
This reluctance was reportedly evident in the first meeting of the state coordination committee headed by former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
In this meeting on Tuesday (19 March), senior leaders namely Navin Jindal, Kuldeep Sharma and Kumari Selja did not show much enthusiasm to contest the upcoming polls.
Signs of disgruntlement too were evident as Congress Working Committee (CWC) member Kuldeep Bishnoi skipped the meeting due to unhappiness over not getting any key roles in the party.
In the recently concluded Jind by polls, the Congress candidate Randeep Surjewala came a distant third with a total of 21,392 votes.
The results were dubbed as a historic victory for the BJP, wherein its candidate Dr Krishan Lal Midha got 50,566 votes and won with a comfortable margin of 12,935 votes.
