The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) is all set to launch commercial operations for its Aqua Line after the mandatory safety inspection was successfully complete, Financial Express has reported.

The NMRC has received the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) report giving a go ahead for commercial operations of the metro line, PD Upadhyay, NMRC’s Executive Director was quoted saying. The corporation has reportedly written to the Uttar Pradesh government to decide on the line’s inauguration date.

The 29.7 km aqua metro line connects the twin cities of Noida and Greater Noida. It would run between Sector 71 station in Noida and the Depot Station in Greater Noida and pass through 21 stations.

A total of 15 stations will fall in Noida (from Sector 149 to Sector 71), the rest of the six stations will be under Greater Noida, including, Delta 1, Alpha 1, Alpha 2, Pari Chowk and Knowledge Park 2 stations.

Reports suggest that the fares of Noida Metro Aqua Line would be fixed in the NMRC Board meeting scheduled on 28 December. This isn’t the end of the story for the Aqua line as the Yogi Adityanath led Uttar Pradesh government has already approved an extension of Aqua Line. It will connect Noida Sector 71 to Knowledge Park 5 in Greater Noida.
