‘Not Saying We Will Never Unite With BJP Again’: Uddhav Thackery On Reconciling With Former Ally

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray while speaking to his party mouthpiece on Sunday (2 February) refused to rule out the possibility of his party reconciling with the BJP.
“I am not saying we will never unite with them (BJP) again”, Uddhav Thackeray was quoted by Times Now as saying.
Uddhav led Shiv Sena severed a long term alliance with the BJP following the culmination of the Maharashtra Assembly Polls.
Uddhav accused the BJP of not honouring its promise of a 50-50 share of the Chief Ministerial seat. Senior BJP leaders like Amit Shah and Devendra Fadnavis have denied having made such a promise to Shiv Sena.
The party then decided to ally with ideologically asymmetric parties like the Congress and NCP to make Uddhav the Chief Minister.
It may be recalled that soon after joining hands with Congress and NCP, the Uddhav Thackeray led Shiv Sena has been accused of shedding its nationalist stance.
It was reported that the party had refrained from openly supporting the Citizenship Amendment Act. A Congress MLA who had opposed the hanging of terrorist Yakub Memon was also inducted as a minister in the Uddhav les government.
A noted theater personality was also sent on forced leave and threatened with further action by Congress leaders for slamming Rahul Gandhi's statement deriding Veer Savarkar.
The Uddhav led government has also promised to bring reservation for Muslims in the state.
