‘Not Trying To Cling To Power’ Says CM Kumaraswamy Ahead Of Likely Floor Test In Karnataka Assembly

With two deadlines set by the state’s governor having been breached earlier, Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy has said that he is not trying to cling to power in the state, NDTV has reported.
The ruling JD(S)-Congress coalition, with its strength having been reduced to 102 after 15 of its lawmakers submitted their resignations to the assembly Speaker. The resignations, however, are yet to be accepted.
However, in light of the resignations, the ruling combine has been asked to prove its majority in the state assembly which the combine is skirting as alleged by the opposition BJP. BJP state chief B S Yeddyurappa has however claimed that today will be the last day of the Kumaraswamy government as BJP MLAs entered the Vidhan Soudha.
The assembly Speaker, K R Ramesh has said that the he is positive that the trust vote will be held today. "I am confident that the discussion on confidence motion will end today and House will agree for voting. I can't independently decide on this but I am sure the government will keep up its promise to complete the exercise today," he said.
