National Security Adviser Ajit Doval has been given the charge to bring the large scale rioting in Northeast Delhi under control, ANI has reported.
He is expected to brief Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah over the situation.
As part of the action against rioters, Doval is said to have made it clear that lawlessness in no form would be tolerated and adequate number of police and paramilitary forces have been deployed to ensure order is restored. The cops have also reportedly been given a free hand to combat the rioters.
The meeting was attended by senior police officials, which included the newly appointed Special Commissioner of Delhi Police (Law and Order) SN Shrivastava.
Doval also undertook an on ground inspection of the riot affected areas in Northeast Delhi.

The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
