NTPC To Develop International Partnership For Research On Clean Energy

The National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC) is set to forge two overseas alliances in order to expedite research on clean energy and thereby advance sustainability in energy value chain by 2025.
As of now, NTPC is amongst the few companies to have announced their energy compact goals as per the UN High-level Dialogue on Energy (HLDE).
The state-run power producer has doubled its renewable energy target for 2032 and is aiming to have around 60 giga-watts (GW) of wind and solar capacity by the end of that period. Presently, the company has an installed renewable energy capacity of 1,350 MW and it intends to build on an additional 13,000 MW of green power generation base by FY24.
Back in September 2020, NTPC had revealed that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) along with the International Solar Alliance (ISA) to carry out 47 solar power projects in small island states and also lesser developed countries.
Financial Express has also reported that the company had appealed to the ISA to appoint it as a consultant for global rooftop solar projects with the upfront fees for consultancy being against 6-10 per cent of the total cost of the project.
