Odisha coronavirus update
As many as 173 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported in Odisha in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases to 2,781 in the state, informed the Health department on Saturday (6 June).
This is the highest single-day spike in COVID-19 positive cases in the state so far.
Out of the 173 cases, 150 were reported from quarantine centres and 23 are local contacts.
Ganjam reported the highest of 64 new cases followed by Jajpur (19), Cuttack (13), Mayurbhanj (13), Balangir (11), Balasore (11), Gajapati (10), Khurda (9), Nuapada (8), Nayagarh (7), Bhadrak (4), Kalahandi (2), Jharsuguda (1) and Puri (1).
The active cases now stand at 1,167 while 1,604 recovered and eight have succumbed to the infection.
Of the total cases, the highest 597 Covid-19 positive cases have been found in Ganjam district, followed by 312 infections in Jajpur, 226 in Khurdha, 190 in Balasore,167 in Cuttack, 163 in Kendrapada,140 in Bhadrak, 116 in Balangir, 100 in Puri, 87 in Jagatsinghpur, 83 in Nayagarh, 81 in Sundergarh, 70 in Mayurbhanj, 68 in Nuapada, 61 in Gajapati,
Other districts that have reported 40 or less cases include Boudh (34) , Dhenkanal (33), Deogarh (33), Keonjhar (32), Angul (31), Kandhamal (27), Sonepur (26), Kalahandi (25), Malkangiri (21), Sambalpur (16), Baragarh (16), Koraput (14), Jharsuguda (8), Rayagada (2) and Nawarangpur (2).
