CM Naveen Patnaik distributing scholarship through video conference (@cmo_odisha/Twitter)
Odisha government distributed scholarships and laptops to 39,039 students for performing well in high school and plus two (Class XII) exams on Monday ( 5 November), India Today has reported.
Mukhya Mantri Medha Bruti (Chief Minister's Merit Scholarship) and Odia Bhasabruti (Odia Language Scholarship) scholarships were given to high school students. The government gave Odia Bhasabruti to 3549 students and Mukhyamantri MedhaBruti to 35,490 students as per an official statement. Laptops were distributed to 15,000 students who did well in their plus two exams.
‘Utkrusta Vidyalaya Proschahana Puraskar’ was awarded to those schools which promoted Odia language during the same programme. The chief minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik participated in the program via video-conference.
Besides distributing scholarships, Patnaik also felicitated matriculation toppers and their parents, school teachers.
Incidentally, in the past the Akhilesh Yadav government had distributed free laptops to the state’s students which was later accused of being mired in corruption.
