Taxi aggregator OLA on Friday (24 January) was slammed by social media users for indulging a passenger who reported a driver for not sharing his ‘liberal views’.

A twitter user named Kanav Sharma who claims to be a management consultant, tagged OLA to complain against a driver who countered his views critical of the Narendra Modi led central government, after allegedly overhearing a phone call.

After the driver argued that the Congress should also be held responsible for the economy being in dire straits and blamed it for the creation of ‘Tukde Tukde gang, Sharma kept debating with the driver and declared that all his assertions were false.

During the debate, when the driver also brought up the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits at the hands of Islamic radicals but Sharma in response stated that he respects all religions.

“The depth to which BJP’s propaganda and fake news has reached, it is getting really scary”, said Sharma in one of his tweets.

He in the end again tagged Ola to ensure that drives stick to their duty and not paint their passengers “anti-nationals” and also breached the driver’s privacy by sharing his license number plate.

This behaviour by the management consultant irked many social media users who implied that he wanted to get the poor driver fired while both the parties were willingly indulging in a debate.

Despite the criticism, Ola decided to indulge the woke passenger by announcing it has reported the driver for “corrective action”. This further angered social media users who promised to boycott Ola if any action gets taken against the driver.

Ola is yet to issue a clarification in the matter at the time of this report’s publication. After the outrage the management consultant “clarified” to people that he was merely sharing his experience as a “feedback” and hopes that the driver is not fired.
