On Maharashtra, Haryana Assembly Poll Result Day, Congress Spokespersons To Remain Off TV Debates

With the much awaited results of the Haryana and Maharashtra Assembly elections on Thursday (24 October), the Congress has decided to boycott television debates.
But party leaders will be available to give solo interviews where there is no panel.
The boycott is in continuation with the Congress' strategy not to send spokesperson on TV debates after the poll debacle in the general election in May.
The party had lost the general election badly and could not cross double digits. It is upset as the debates are on India-Pakistan ties and along communal lines.
Party spokesperson will also be available in AICC headquarters.
It is worth consideration here that after the polling for the state assembly elections ended in Maharashtra and Haryana, several exit polls predicted a clear win for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its alliance.
IANS-C-Voter survey predicted seats between 192-216 for the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance in Maharashtra, while in Haryana, it said that the BJP might bag 68 to 76 seats.
