One’s Loss Is Another’s Gain: Haryana To Expand All Five Airports To Make Most Of IGI’s Shrinking Parking Space

Haryana government is all set to expand and develop all five airports in the state to make the most of growing stress on facilities at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International airport, reports Tribune India.
State Civil Aviation Department had planned the expansion of the Bhiwani, Hisar, Narnaul, Karnal and Pinjore airports to meet the growing need for maintenance of aircraft and parking space as well as providing logistics support.
All the five airstrips of the state-owned airports are being equipped with night-landing facilities. They are also being expanded to 5000 feet against the present 3,500 feet and will have hangers where the aircraft can be parked.
The expansion plan is a result of growing demand from operators who were struggling for space at the Delhi airport.
“There is a boom in the civil aviation sector and space in Delhi is limited. The state government has decided to exploit the available infrastructure to facilitate operators,” state’s civil aviation adviser Ashok Sangwan was quoted in the report as saying.
