‘Order Does Not Suffer From Any Error’: SC Dismisses Review Petitions Of 10 Convicts In Haren Pandya Murder Case

Rejecting the review petitions against the its conviction of 10 men for their involvement in the March 2003 murder of former Gujarat home minister Haren Pandya, the Supreme Court today (21 November) upheld its earlier decision, reports News18.
“We have perused the Review Petitions and record of the appeals and are convinced that the order, of which review has been sought, does not suffer from any error apparent warranting its reconsideration. The Review Petitions are, accordingly, dismissed," said the bench consisting of Justices Arun Mishra and Vineet Saran.
The total number of individuals who had been convicted was 12, out of which 10 had submitted their review petitions before the apex court. With the rejection of their review petitions, nine of the convicts will continue to serve sentences of life imprisonment.
In March 2003, Pandya had been taking a morning walk when he was gunned down by two assailants. The subsequent CBI probe revealed that his murder was a conspiracy by the assailants and their collaborators to seek revenge after the Godhra riots in 2002.
