Over 3,900 Km Roads Constructed At A Rate Of 21.60 Km Per Day In First Six Months Of FY21: Govt

The government on Friday (9 October) said that over 3,900 km of roads were constructed at a rate of 21.60 km per day during the first six months of financial year 2020-21 despite the Covid-19 related difficulties.
"The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has successfully completed construction of road length of 3951 km during the first six months of this fiscal year (April-Sept period)," an official release said.
The ministry further said that it has achieved a construction pace of 21.60 km per day despite COVID-19 difficulties.
The ministry has set an ambitious target of constructing 11,000 km road length during this fiscal year, according to the release.
Earlier on Thursday (8 October), the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) said that it awarded 40 projects worth over Rs 47,00 crore for a cumulative length of 1,330 km in FY21 despite the Covid-19 pandemic.
The capital cost of these 40 projects awarded by NHAI is estimated to be Rs 47,289 crore, which includes cost of civil work, land acquisition, and other pre- construction activities.
