Over 800 Kerala Police Personnel Had Links With PFI, NIA Report Says

A report by the National Investigative Agency (NIA) handed over to the Kerala Director General of Police (DGP) says that 873 personnel of the Kerala Police have links to the now banned Popular Front of India (PFI).
These police personnel whose ranks range from constables to Sub-Inspectors and Station House Officers (SHO) have been charged with leaking information about the movements of state machinery during raids and also the whereabouts of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leaders.
Some of them are posted in departments like Intelligence and Special Branch which deal with sensitive information.
In February 2022, a constable PK Anas of Karimannoor police station in Idukki district was dismissed from service after a departmental probe found him guilty of leaking details of RSS leaders to local workers of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) which is considered to be the political arm of the PFI.
It is learnt that the NIA is probing the financial dealings of these police personnel to see if they were involved in offences like money laundering and terror funding.
