Pakistan: 33 Journalists Killed On Duty In Past Six Years, Reveals Freedom Network Report

A report released by Freedom Network has revealed that as many as 33 journalists have been killed while on duty in Pakistan over the last six years alone, reports Asian News International (ANI).
Backing Freedom Network's startling revelation on the state in which journalists operate in the Islamic Republic, Pakistan Press Foundation has reported that since 2002, as many as 48 journalists have lost their lives in targeted attacks, while 24 have been killed for their work.
The Foundation has also revealed that as many as 171 journalists operating in the Islamic Republic have suffered serious assaults while another 77 have had to brace against minor attacks on them.
Further, the report has also revealed that as many as 18 journalists have been arrested and put behind the bars in the Army-run nation, with 26 being detained while on reportage, and another 36 being booked under sundry cases.
It should be noted that the Islamic Republic of Pakistan stands at 142nd position on the World Press Index of 2019, which ranks as many as 180 nations.
