Pakistan And China Enter Into Agreement To Expand Defence Cooperation, Augment Capabilities Of Pak Army

An agreement was signed between China and Pakistan on Monday (26 August) to expand defence cooperation between the two countries and pursue the Pakistan Army’s capacity building, reports PTI.
The bilateral agreement was signed during the official visit to Rawalpindi of a People’s Liberation Army (PLA) delegation led by Vice Chairman Central Military Commission (CMC) General Xu Qiliang.
Xu met with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of the Pakistan Army, General Qamar Javed Bajwa, and the two sides exchanged views on ways to boost defence cooperation and also discussed regional security matters.
The present situation in Jammu & Kashmir was also discussed at the delegation-level talks; Pakistan has been opposed to the recent abrogation of Article 370 which gave special status to Jammu & Kashmir. India has maintained that it is an internal matter for the country.
China is already one of the largest suppliers to the Pakistan Armed Forces (PAF), with a number of weapons systems and equipment used by the latter being developed with Pakistani assistance.
