Nazir Ahmed, a member of the House of Lords of the United Kingdom, shared a video on Twitter in which he claimed that a mother and her infant child were buried alive in India by “fascists”.

The tweet which sought to spread an anti-India narrative by giving it a communal colour, soon went viral.

In reality, the video Ahmed had shared was recorded in North Dinajpur district's Islampur area (Shujali), in West Bengal and is a case of domestic violence, as investigated by Boomlive.

The woman and her two-month-old infant daughter were murdered and buried in the backyard by a man, identified as Akbar Alam.

Noor Jahan had married Alam two years ago and had given birth to a girl which enraged her husband and he killed them both on 29 January and buried them, claims the report.

This news was also reported earlier by local news channel in Bengal.

However, Ahmed who sits in the upper house of the UK parliament gave this video a communal twist, while in reality it was a case of a husband killing his wife and committing an act of female infanticide.

The Pakistani origin UK lawmaker Ahmed has been charged with two counts of attempted rape.
