Already rough ties between India and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan are set to further vitiate, as the latter has denied a visa to the new Indian ambassador to the nation Jayant Khobragade, reports Times of India.

Pakistan has rejected Khobragade's appointment as the new chargé d'affaires in Islamabad. It should be noted that this comes after India had in June officially decided to downgrade the diplomatic ties with its belligerent neighbour by asking for the halving of its mission strength.

Meanwhile, Indian stance is that it's for India and not for Pakistan to dictate the appointment of Indian diplomats in Islamabad.

Khobragade is a 1995 batch IFS officer who is presently serving in the Department of Atomic Energy as a Joint Secretary. In the past, he has also served at Indian missions in Russia, Spain, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic and also Pakistan.
