A Pakistan military owned media house has posted an advertisement to attract female social media specialists in a bid to “attract and interact with targeted virtual communities and network users”.
The advertisement has been placed through the Pakistani state owned Fatima Jinnah Women University and demands fluency in English and excellent skills in photo, video and text editing.
The notice says that the military is looking to hire only female candidates. The job description mentions that the job would require the women to "attract and interact with targeted virtual communities and network users."
The advertisement raises concerns that the military might be using the women for “honeytrapping” to get access to confidential information, or luring the youth into terror activities. Several Pakistan-based modules have been suspected of using the technique in the past.
Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
