Pakistan Passes Unanimous Resolution To Recall Ambassador From France, It Has No Ambassador In France

The Pakistan National Assembly in a unanimous resolution has asked the government to recall its ambassador to France after Prime Minister Imran Khan accused French President Emmanuel Macron of "attacking Islam".

As per a report in The News, this resolution by the National Assembly may not take effect as Pakistan currently has no Ambassador in France with the last Ambassador having been transferred to China three months ago.

Pakistan since then does not have an envoy in France as its foreign office is yet to announce his replacement.

Incidentally, Pakistan's Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi was also one of the lawmakers who passed the resolution despite reportedly being aware of a lack of Ambassadorial appointee in France. He also refrained from passing on this information to his colleagues.

Earlier Imran Khan had attacked French President Macron by claiming that, "It is unfortunate that he has chosen to encourage Islamophobia by attacking Islam rather than the terrorists who carry out violence, be it Muslims, White Supremacists or Nazi ideologists.”

"By attacking Islam, clearly without having any understanding of it, President Macron has attacked & hurt the sentiments of millions of Muslims in Europe & across the world. "Imran Khan said.

Imran Khan had earlier blasted Charlie Hebdo for re-publishing the cartoons.

Imran Khan’s predictable Twitter rant came within a day of Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan launching a attack on his French counterpart Macron, saying he needed treatment and “mental checks” over his attitude towards Muslims and Islam.
