The Pakistani government on Wednesday (7 August) announced its decision to suspend bilateral trade and downgrade diplomatic relations, The Hindu has reported.
This decision was taken during Pakistan’s National Security Committee meeting chaired by the nation’s Prime Minister Imran Khan. It was attended by Pakistan's Foreign, Defence, Interior, Education, Human Rights, Law ministers, as well as ISI and army personnel.
As per journalist Gharida Farooqi, the National Security Committee while indirectly referring to Article 370’a abolition called it an “unilateral and illegal action of the Indian government”.
It thus announced that besides downgrading diplomatic relations and suspending bilateral trade, Pakistan would review bilateral arrangements and knock on the doors of the United Nations. The Islamic nation also stated that it would observe 15 August as a black day.
Pakistan which has vehemently condemned the abolition of Article 370 had on Monday (5 August) set up a high-level committee to prepare an action plan to deal with India’s actions.

The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
