Palghar Lynching: Uddhav Thackeray Says ‘Centre Ruled’ Dadra Nagar Haveli Should Not Have Turned Away Sadhus

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray in a possible attempted to shift the blame on the Dadra Nagar Haveli administration in connection with the Palghar lynching by saying that they should not have been turned away from the border.
Three individuals including two sadhus were brutally lynched in Palghar on 16 April.
During a press briefing, Uddhav said that when the two Sadhus who were travelling from Nashik to Gujarat reached the Dadra Nagar Haveli border, they were prohibited from going any further.
“If the authorities had asked the Sadhus to stay at the Dadra Nagar Haveli border for the night or promptly handed them over to the Maharashtra government then this fate would not have befallen them. But they were instead denied entry in a Central ruled region and sent back”, Uddhav said in the address.
He added that the village where the lynching occurred is poorly connected from Maharashtra and cops had to take an alternative road via Dadra Nagar Haveli to reach the spot.
Meanwhile, the state government has suspended two policemen and directed the Crime Investigation Department to probe the mob lynching.
