Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh

Former Mumbai Police commissioner Param Bir Singh has now moved the Supreme Court seeking a CBI inquiry into his allegations against Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.

As per reports, Singh has also sought the collection of CCTV footage from Deshmukh's residence to corroborate his allegations.

In his petition Singh has called for an "unbiased, uninfluenced, impartial and fair investigation in the various corrupt malpractices of Anil Deshmukh, the Home Minister of Government of Maharashtra, before the evidences are destroyed".

A few days ago Param Bir Singh after being transferred out as the Mumbai Police Commissioner had written an explosive letter alleging that Deshmukh had asked crooked cop Sachin Vaze to collect Rs 100 Crore per month from Mumbai's bars, restaurants and other establishments.

Singh has also accused Deshmukh of avoiding expert legal opinion whilst ordering to file an abetment of suicide case in former Dadra and Nagar Haveli MP Mohan Delkar’s suicide case.

Delkar was found dead in Mumbai on 22 February and Singh asserted that Deshmukh had sought ‘political mileage’ by filing the concerned FIR with respect to Delkar’s death. The policeman even said that he had opposed the filing of the FIR amidst a meeting of ministers that included Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray as well.
