In the list of countries with top ten cheapest Netflix subscription, India has come at the last spot. Indians pay more for Netflix than nine other countries and gets less content in return, according to a study by Comparitech, as reported by Livemint.

The report reasons that US and UK also face higher subscription fee (UK is 25th, and US is 26th in the list) because Netflix is trying to cross-subsidise its growth worldwide by driving profits from these countries.

The library size also varies from country to country.

Japan has the largest library size with 6,000 shows and movies due to its extensive anime while India has 5,000 titles, including 3,500 movies at higher prices.

The monthly cost of a Netflix in India is Rs 500 for a basic one and Rs 900 for a premium one. It is in sharp contrast with Amazon Prime and Hotstar having annual plans as cheap as Rs 999. Netflix India, which made Rs 20 lakh profit in just second year of it launch, has no plans to reduce subscription rates.
