Intel India said on Thursday (1 December) that personal computers (PCs) have been instrumental in closing the skill gap and achieving digital literacy nationwide. The company said this while releasing an impact assessment report on its "Ek Kadam Unnati Ki Aur" initiative, an Intel drive to extend the government of India's vision to take digitisation to the grassroots level.

Identifying the challenges to PC adoption in non-urban India, the report cited the lack of local-language interfaces as a key barrier to PC acceptance, highlighting the need to create relevant vernacular content.
